Choose your own adventure

“Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what is going to happen next.”

~ Gilda Radner

To stay on the path or wonder off...

Life is like a choose your own adventure book.  Except that there is no way to skip ahead and check out the different endings, to pick your favourite.  Every decision, every choice we make leads to a new plot line or chapter in our lives.  We can never know exactly how the story will unfold, as that depends on circumstances outside ourselves.  The direction the story takes requires input from other characters, setting, obstacles that get in the way and how the characters react to these.

It’s always exciting when the story takes an unexpected twist or turn.  Though it shouldn’t be so unexpected.  A decision was made and actions taken, so obviously there will be consequences or a reaction to the initial decision.  It’s when another character in your life story reacts in a positive way too, that the twists and turns can become extra exciting.  When the characters are in balance with each other, each decision and reaction works in harmony, creating an escalating series of events to intwine them closer together.  In other words, everyone lives happily ever after.  Of course, not every choice made will result in this ending in your choose your own adventure book.  But it makes you realise the importance of paying attention to the finer details of life.  Where a decision as small as walking out to a car park, could change the course of your story in ways you never thought possible.
